What does drinking 2 liters of water a day with your body. So you certainly do not have to worry about not getting enough fluid. Much of the "eight glasses a day hype" is caused by the lobbies of mineral water companies. Although it is not unhealthy to drink less than two liters of water a day, it can help you lose weight. Just think: How much soft drink do you drink per day? Probably too much. Most people in Dutch drink an unhealthy amount of soda (why soda is bad for you). Replacing soft drinks with water is not easy. Because be honest, if you are thirsty you want to drink something tasty, not a glass of water. Yet there is a way to ensure that you no longer have soft drinks.

How much water to drink?

The method of eight glasses a day can help you with this. That it is good to drink eight glasses a day is true, but not because your body needs it, but for a completely different reason. Drinking soft drinks is greatly encouraged by your thirst. If you always take a glass of water before you get thirsty, the soda becomes redundant. This way you will not only become slimmer, but you also save a lot of money every month on soft drinks! In addition, your body needs water to keep fat burning going. In order to lose weight, water is therefore of great importance. Water can also make you less hungry. If you drink a lot of water, your stomach is fuller. You will therefore eat something less quickly. That makes it easier to waste. In short, drink eight glasses of water a day to quench your thirst. Water is hungry

It takes a lot of effort to keep drinking so much, and for some also a lot of money. Not to mention the nightly trips to the toilet that one gets from drinking an abundance of water ... With or without carbonic acid?

Many people drink Spa, or other (light) sparkling water. Of course, it is still water, but the question is whether it is as healthy as the "normal" tap water. Almost all mineral water manufacturers sell both sparkling and non-effervescent water. Of course, there is nothing wrong with the version that does not fizz. What you have to ask yourself is how much sense it has to buy this kind of water. We Dutch are fortunate that there is a lot of groundwater in the Netherlands. The tap water here is therefore very "fresh". In many southern European countries one has to be careful with drinking tap water. Here the water from the tap is often as clean as that from the supermarket. So it is basically not necessary to buy this.

On the other hand you get it in the store in a bottle. If you work or exercise, that is of course handy. Remember that it costs 400 euro per year to buy a bottle of water every day. Bizarrely expensive, so not wise to buy it every day. What you can do better is to buy a bottle about once a month, and to fill it for a month. Do not do that much longer than a month unless you clean it thoroughly, with boiling water. In the longer term, whole populations of bacteria can enter. In principle, these are usually no malignant bacteria, but you can taste it, and that is not pleasant of course.

Another argument is that sparkling water is bad for the teeth. If you are drinking from a bottle like that all day long, your teeth will come into contact with carbon dioxide throughout the day. That is not wise, the glaze is much weaker. It is better to drink everything at once if you want the buzzing version if necessary. If you have just been drinking sparkling water you can also be more careful with eating "hard things". Carbonic acid makes the glaze on the teeth soft. For example, if you eat a bowl of cruesli, part of the glaze is ground. Not really desirable of course.

Moisture in food

Food is in all sorts of foods, except some raw products such as flour. This ensures that you already consume a very large part of your daily need for fluids by eating. This of course only applies if you have a healthy diet. It is therefore usually not necessary to supplement that quantity with several glasses of water in between. How is it possible that a person would need so much if it had not been possible in the past? Certainly in the past, people ate more foods that contained a large amount of moisture, so there was simply less water needed. In the Middle Ages drank almost no water, but especially beer. If that was really unhealthy, we would not have been there now, would it?

Combine water with a diet

Can you lose weight by drinking water. Many people just like to drink a lot of water. And admittedly, it gives a clean feeling. By combining this, you not only clean with the diet, but also with the water. A sensible choice, of course.
