Drinking water? What is it really like? How do you know if you are drinking enough water.
Occasionally the discussion flares up again, what is the recommended amount of fluid that you have to drink per day? We asked Spokesman Roy van der Ploeg of the Netherlands Nutrition Center. They are known as the producer of the 'Schijf van Vijf', the guideline for healthy eating. This spring they presented again a new Disc. How much moisture should someone take every day? "Our advice is to take 1.5 to 2 liters of fluid a day. Preferably by tap water, coffee or tea without sugar. There is also a lot of moisture in fruit and vegetables, but that comes on top of that amount.
"No, not necessarily. Soft drinks, up to 7 cubes of sugar. Healthy drinks instead of water. Tap water is of course a good choice. It contains 0.0 calories and is an important weapon against obesity, which more and more people are struggling with. And it is a good thirst quencher. Black and green tea also deserve a special recommendation. It has been proven that these drinks lower blood pressure and they reduce the risk of a stroke. " Now there is also criticism of this advice. People should listen more to listening to their thirst and then take action. What's up with that? "We do not agree with that. You will lose moisture through sweating and peeing and that needs to be replenished. If you drink regularly throughout the day, you maintain your fluid balance. In addition, it keeps your body temperature up to standard and carries away the waste. And not everyone thirsts are well developed. " Lose weight by drinking water.
"The Schijf van Vijf has been around since 1953. We translate the guidelines of the Health Council and the WHO, the World Health Organization. And we also rely on countless national and international scientific research. That is still developing. These advancing insights are also the reason why we have no longer included fruit juices in the new disc. It does not saturate and does contain a lot of sugars. Tap water, coffee and tea make a proven positive contribution. Of course, fruit is important, but preferably eat it in its original form. "
"If you do not keep one day, there is no man overboard, of course. The most important thing is that you yourself try to maintain your fluid balance and prevent dehydration. That is why we advise you to drink plenty of fluids and to eat and drink varied according to the Schijf van Vijf. Then you stay on weight easier and you increase the chance of a healthy old age. "
