Drinking water is important
Water, a super drink. Water is the source of all life and forms the building block of every human cell. As much as 50 to 60 percent of the human body consists of water. It fulfills functions that are of vital importance: it liquefies your blood, important substances for your digestion and other bodily substances and transports nutrients to the organs. In addition, water has an important function as a coolant. As your body temperature rises, your body sweats out moisture and prevents you from overheating. Every day your body separates two to three liters of fluid. Most of it through your kidneys in the form of urine, but also through the skin. In the summer or during exercise, that can become even more sweating. If you do not supplement the amount of moisture consumed, your fluid balance will become unbalanced.
Thirst: an important signal
Do not wait until you get thirsty or even a dry mouth. Fatigue solved by drinking water. Thirst is a signal from your body that 'it is missing something'. It is not a warning system by which your body indicates that moisture is needed, as is often thought. There is already a shortage if your body is around 300 ml of extra water
need. You notice the consequences immediately. Your blood flows less through the veins. This reduces the amount of oxygen in organs and muscles. You feel tired and limp, have a headache and a disturbed blood circulation. A clear indication of fluid deficiency is concentrated and strongly smelling urine. The mouth also becomes dry. Furthermore, digestion can give problems, for example in the form of constipation. The level of your blood glucose values directly affects the fluid balance. If your blood glucose rises to values above 8.8 mmol / L, your body will try to excrete more glucose through the kidneys by binding it to water. The result: you have to go to the toilet more often.
Water is the optimal moisture supplier. Especially mineral water contains many valuable minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium. These so-called electrolytes are important for many construction and control processes of body cells. Potassium and sodium regulate, among other things, the moisture balance of your body and the pH value of the blood. A good alternative to water is herbal tea without sugar. Those who like to drink black coffee or tea can drink three to four cups every day without any problems. Soft drinks such as cola and lemonades are not good for the moisture balance. They ensure that the blood glucose levels shoot up quickly so that moisture is extracted from your body. Drinking water helps with losing some weight.
The correct amount
Your body needs about one and a half liters of fluid per day. But if you sweat this is quickly 2 to 2.5 liters. An exception to this: in severe heart or kidney diseases you should not take as much fluid as you. The more water you have in your body, the greater the volume of blood that your heart and kidneys need to process every day.
If your fluid balance is in balance, you notice that immediately. You have a good blood circulation, you can concentrate your
