It is official: I drink too little water. Just like my intentions for the new year, I recently measured my body fat in the gym. The result was very detailed, but I will bother you with that. But I am clearly - like many other people - of the category of people who are thirsty and who often grab a cup of coffee than a healthy glass of water. Statements about how much water we need every day vary from source of information to source of information (usually the numbers fluctuate between 1.5 and 3 liters) and of course depends on your physique and how much you move. In that respect, I do not want to advise you about that either; that is best discussed with a doctor. What I know for sure is that my half liters of water and two cups of coffee a day are not enough. The intention to drink more water, I had long before the measurement. That is why I want to share some tips with you here, so that in my daily life I pay more attention to my drinking habits ...
Having a full glass of water all the time. No matter how simple this tip in the theory may seem, the execution was more difficult. I often catch myself thinking that when I am outside I often feel thirsty - and then of course you have nothing to drink with. The idea of stopping at the gas station and paying a bottle of water at a multiple of the normal price is usually more unpleasant than the thirst. And a supermarket is not exactly in that area at that moment and you probably do not have time for a detour. This can of course be prevented by always, before you leave the house, a bottle of water (0.5 liter bottles are not as heavy as you think) in your (hand) bag to do. Even if free drinks are offered at work, keep in mind that you can still get thirsty while on the train, car or on foot. And maybe in the meantime you need a refreshment. Especially if you are stuck in traffic for a long time, such a water supply is worth gold. In the car you can of course also store larger bottles or even six packs, so you do not dry out.
Tips to drink more water. In fact, we all know how important it is to drink enough. A balanced fluid balance is good for everything - good for your skin, your concentration, your immune system, easier digestion and a slim line. If we dry out, this will lead to lesser performance in no time and we will feel tired and weak. Sufficient drinking is satisfying and the result is that you automatically start eating less. And even without feeling thirsty you should drink more, because thirst only indicates that the body has a shortage of water. That way I could go on forever. Although this information is for most old news, we forget to grab a glass of water or convince ourselves that we just do not have enough time for it. By reading articles in blogs (like this one), magazines, on line magazines, etc., I make sure I keep an eye on it. In doing so, I am unconsciously acquiring a guilty conscience ... "Oh, I also have to drink something ..." and then a slight thirst arises. With lyrics about lack of water as a result of dry skin, my skin immediately feels like the Sahara ... and then drinking a sip is a lot easier.
I am not a fan of drink apps. Meanwhile, there are different versions for all types of smart phones, but in one way or another I'm old-fashioned. Maybe it is also a bit of my pride, to be reminded by my mobile phone of something as essential as drinking. In the past people have also managed to do this without apps. I try to achieve my daily goal by choosing the right cup. There are various options for this. In the office I like to use a simple 0.5 liter cup, which I try to fill at least three times a day (to empty it again of course). You can also buy a bottle or bottle that contains your recommended daily amount of water. I therefore advise you to take this with you every day. Drinking too little is a globally spread problem that the industry has of course already benefited from. Many manufacturers now offer bottles or water bottles, which are marked with times. As a result, you always have an overview of how much water you have already drunk at what time of the day. By the way: drinking too much at the same time does not work either. This only means that you also have to get rid of the water very quickly. To prevent this, the aforementioned water bottles are very suitable.
Whether you're with your friends, visiting the hairdresser or a job interview - you'll be offered something to drink everywhere. And often we decline the offer, because we are either not thirsty or purely out of politeness. But if it really would take so much work to pour a glass of water (and then put it in the dishwasher), it would not be offered to you so quickly. And yes, you read that correctly: take a glass of water, even though coffee sometimes sounds more tempting. Another advantage of this trick: if someone else serves you something to drink, you often drink it out before you go again.
The simplest trick of all: water with a taste. Lemon juice in your water - super healthy.
Yes, I admit, sometimes water just tastes pretty boring and sometimes you just can not get it inside. Here an old trick helps to perk up the drink. My recommendation? Berries and citrus fruits, but also slices of cucumber give your glass of water a refreshing aroma. You can pour your ingredients directly into your cup or bottle or let it pass through a sieve into the water (it will only take longer for the cold water to absorb the aromas). And for the fans of flavored mineral water there are special bottles for sale: some bottles have an integrated sieve, so you do not have to remove any more ingredients from your bottle. Water with a natural taste is in any case a better alternative to soft drinks and more.
I hope you liked these tips and that they might help you to get the ideal amount of water. Do you have any more tips? How do you remind yourself of drinking more water? Better health with Prestige Water.
