Do you know exactly how much water you should drink

We all know that it is important to drink enough water. Drinking water helps with losing some weight. Yet we do this far too little, as was recently shown in a study that 50 to 80 per cent of people are chronically dehydrated. Very worrying, because a shortage of moisture can have the necessary effects on your physical and emotional well-being. Can food influence your sleep?

Formula

Fortunately, there is a handy formula that can tell you exactly what you should drink in water every day. Usually, it is recommended to calculate 30 ml of water per kilogram of body weight. Women would need on average 1.5 to 2 litres per day, and men 2 to 3 litres.

To clarify:

1 kg body weight = 30 ml of water per day:

    60 kg = 1.8 liters
    80 kg = 2.4 liters
    100 kg = 3 liters

Handy trick

Cold water drinking. There is also another way to find out if you are adequately hydrated. Relax your skin, grab a piece of skin and pull it. Then release the skin and see what happens. Does your skin immediately return? Then you are well hydrated. Does it take a while and do you have a fold? Then you are probably dehydrated. Bottled water, Tap water or Filtered water.

Why water?

We need water. It regulates body heat and removes waste. Our body consists of more than 50% water! We lose fluid by peeing and sweating. We must top this up again. You can do this by eating and drinking vegetables, fruit and (sweet) drinks. But (tap) water is the best and healthiest thirst quencher. It is also cheap and available everywhere.

Therefore make drinking water more fun by putting the water in a glass jug. Decorate it! Add mint leaves or slices of lemon, orange or cucumber. A few discs are enough. Because the acids from fruit are not so good for the teeth of young children, it is better not to give this too often. Stir the water and let the show begin. All the pieces float nicely in the water. Finish it off with a nice glass and insert a colourful straw or parasol.

Do you drink a lot of sweet drinks? Always dilute your juice or syrup with slightly more water to get used to a less sweet taste. Do not give up! It will take a while, but in the end, you will find water almost as tasty. Is watermelon healthy?
