Here is a taste. Pimp your water with this DIY

When it's hot, you have to drink! How do I get more energy? Drink a lot! Then we are talking about water, and not about those tempting summer cocktails. As everyone knows, water is really good for you (if you had forgotten it, you can (re) read the 7 secrets of water here). Only water may seem boring, but that does not have to be the case. We show you how easy you can pimp water! There are many ways to make water tasty and attractive and at the same time keep it healthy. We give you inspiration with 5 drinks, but you can also get started yourself. Let your creativity run free! Alkaline water, is the nature of water.

What do you need?

You do not need much material, and that makes it extra fun. The most important of course are the ingredients: vegetables, fruit and herbs. This can be very diverse and will depend on your taste. Think of apple, kiwi, melon, celery, cucumber, radishes, mint, thyme, but also a chili pepper is tasty. You buy bio, especially with citrus fruits. Then you are sure that there are no pesticides in the shell. Secondly, you will of course need a drinking bottle or a jug to put your water in. We use a glass cup with a well-closable cap. In this way we avoid as much as possible (disposable) plastic. You already have the rest at home: a cutting board, a knife and a peeler. If you want to drink your creation immediately, ice cubes and a straw are also useful. What drinking water really does for your skin.

A water can easily be made an evening in advance. Keep it in the fridge so that your brew does not start fermenting. For the same reason, your pimped water in the morning can also be best if you can not keep your drink cool. The advantage of making your drink the night before? The flavors have been given time to fully draw in the water for an extra intense taste!

We are starting!

Before you get full of enthusiasm, do not forget to wash your vegetables, fruit and herbs first. Even if you have bought organic products, an extra wash can never hurt.

Another tip: do not cut your vegetables or fruit too small, it should not be a smoothie and that way you'll be ready even faster!
1. Green pleasures
With this you make it:

  •     Sprig of thyme
  •     Half a cucumber
  •     Half a liter of water
  •     Ice cubes

TIP: make your drink more attractive by making cucumber slices with a vegetable peeler instead of just cutting into pieces.
2. Sour bliss
Nice water in an instant with:

  •     1 stem rhubarb
  •     Twig of mint
  •     Half a liter of water
  •     Ice cubes

TIP: cut the rhubarb into pieces, put them in the jar and crush them with a pestle. In this way more juices and therefore flavorings are released into the water.
3. Bitter charm
This is how you make it:

  •     Half grapefruit
  •     Sprig of rosemary
  •     Half a liter of water
  •     Ice cubes

TIP: the peel of the grapefruit quickly gives a bitter taste to the water. If you do not intend to drink the water immediately, you better remove the peel. Unless, of course, you like bitter.
4. Fresh imagination
Throw this in and ready:

  •     Half an apple
  •     Half lemon
  •     Half a liter of water
  •     Ice cubes

TIP: you do not have to peel the apple and you also do not have to remove the bell house. That way you save time and you keep the vitamins.
5. Red revelation
This is how you make it:

TIP: fresh red fruit is relatively expensive, but you can also use perfect frozen fruit. That way your drink is suddenly fresh!

Herbal infusion

Do you have little time, and would you prefer something more 'On the go'? Then try a herbal infusion. This is just like making tea: you take fresh herbs and leave them for a while in hot water. The infusion that you obtain in this way is highly concentrated. To drink it, you do a small drip of infusion in a glass of fresh water. You can also do the infusion with hot water to make a quick tea. A big advantage of this approach: once you have made the infusion, it will remain in the fridge for several weeks!

Way to go:

  •     3 sprigs of thyme
  •     3 sprigs of rosemary
  •     3 sprigs of sage
  •     1 tsp lavender
  •     Half a liter of water

Start washing again with the herbs. Then put all the herbs in a pot. Let the water boil and pour it over the herbs. Put a lid on the pot and let it draw. When the infusion has cooled you can sieve it. Then pour it into a clean bottle and sit in the refrigerator to store.
